Could You Be the Next Indiana Jones?
One unique and exhilarating team-building option gaining popularity is The Crystal Challenge team-building experience. Team-building activities have become a staple in corporate environments, allowing employees to collaborate, communicate, and strengthen their bonds in a dynamic setting.
Inspired by the iconic 90s TV show, this immersive challenge takes teamwork to a whole new level.
The Crystal Challenge team-building experience is not just a day out; it’s a journey into the heart of collaboration. Teams are thrust into a series of interactive zones, each presenting a different set of challenges that demand diverse skills; from mind puzzles to physical obstacles, participants must work together to conquer each zone and accumulate crystals – the key to their ultimate success.
Whether solving riddles, navigating mazes, or completing physical activities, teams are compelled to tap into their collective intelligence to overcome obstacles. Our hands-on problem-solving experience translates directly to the workplace, fostering a can-do attitude and culture.
The Crystal Challenge team-building experience is an ideal outdoor event but can be played indoors.
Crystal Maze-Style Games
Inspired by Crystal Maze on TV in the 90s, The Crystal Challenge games are spread over several zones, including Medieval, Aztec, Industrial and Futuristic. The aim is to collect as many crystals as possible by winning games within these zones within an allotted time.
Tasks are varied and utilise many skills needed in the workplace. A team or individual might excel at creating and balancing tasks, or perhaps their strengths will shine in memory games or when guiding a blindfolded colleague.
It’s time to spot those amazing team players you can’t work without.

The Crystal Challenge Team Building for Corporate Events
Crystal Challenge corporate events are known for promoting teamwork, problem-solving, and quick thinking. It’s a fun and interactive way for colleagues to work together outside the usual office setting. The challenges are often designed to be mentally and physically engaging, catering to various skills and abilities.
Companies often choose the Crystal Challenge format for team-building activities because it combines competition, entertainment, and team collaboration uniquely and memorably. The event can be tailored to fit the specific needs and preferences of the participating groups.
Here’s how a typical corporate event might unfold:
Teams
Participants are divided into teams, each with a captain.
Zones
The event is organised into different “zones,” each featuring a distinct theme and set of challenges. The original TV show had zones like Aztec, Industrial, Futuristic, and Medieval.
Challenges
Teams encounter various mental, physical, skill, and mystery challenges in each zone. The challenges are designed to test different aspects of teamwork, problem-solving, and communication.
Crystals
Successful completion of a challenge results in the team earning a crystal. The crystals are collected and contribute to the team’s overall score.
Time
Teams have a set amount of time to navigate through the zones and complete as many challenges as possible. The overall goal is to maximise the number of crystals collected.
Final Challenge
At the end of the event, the teams participate in a final challenge that can help them earn additional time in the Crystal Dome (explained below).
Crystal Dome
The event typically concludes with a visit to the Crystal Dome – a large dome filled with golden tickets and a powerful fan in the original TV show. It’s not dissimilar here. Participants enter the dome, and using the crystals they collected, they try to grab as many golden tickets as possible within a short period.
Puzzles to Challenge Your Way of Thinking in the Workplace
In the Crystal Challenge team-building experience, communication is not just encouraged; it’s essential. The activities will test your team’s mental agility and physical skills as strategic decisions are made under pressure, with plenty of fun and hilarity.
You’ll be amazed at how quickly time flies when you’re up against the clock.
Puzzles can be powerful tools for team building, fostering collaboration, communication, problem-solving skills, and overall team cohesion.
Incorporating puzzles into team-building activities can be done through escape room challenges, brain teasers, or even traditional jigsaw puzzles. The key is to choose puzzles that align with the goals of the team-building exercise and the dynamics of the team.

Team Building with The Crystal Challenge
Here’s how The Crystal Challenge puzzles contribute to team building:
Encourages Communication
Team members need to communicate effectively to share ideas, discuss possible solutions, and coordinate their efforts to solve a puzzle. Communication helps improve interpersonal communication within the team.
Promotes Collaboration
Puzzles often require a collective effort to be solved. Team members must work together, combining many strengths and skills to overcome challenges. This collaborative approach reinforces the importance of teamwork.
Develops Problem-Solving Skills
Puzzles inherently involve problem-solving. Teams must analyse the puzzle, break it down into manageable components, and develop strategies to find solutions. This process enhances the team’s ability to approach complex problems in the workplace.
Improves Critical Thinking
Team members must think critically to analyse the puzzle’s structure, identify patterns, and make informed decisions about the next steps. Puzzles encourage critical thinking that can be applied to work-related challenges.
Builds Trust
Solving puzzles requires trust among team members. Individuals must rely on each other’s contributions and trust everyone is working towards a common goal. This trust-building aspect is crucial for effective teamwork.
Encourages Creativity
Some puzzles, especially those with unconventional or abstract elements, encourage creative thinking. Team members learn to think outside the box, fostering an environment that values and appreciates innovative solutions.
Time Management
Many puzzles are timed, requiring teams to manage their time effectively. The time challenge mirrors real-world situations where deadlines are crucial. Teams learn to prioritise tasks and allocate time efficiently to maximise their chances of success.
Boosts Morale
Successfully solving a challenging puzzle can be a morale booster for the team. The sense of accomplishment and shared success contribute to a positive team spirit.
Identifies Leadership Qualities
Puzzles often bring out leadership qualities in individuals. Some team members may naturally take on leadership roles, while others may contribute differently. The Cyrstal Challenge helps identify and develop leadership potential within the team.
Adaptable to Various Skill Levels
Puzzles come in various difficulty levels, making them adaptable to different skill levels within a team. This inclusivity ensures everyone can participate and contribute, regardless of background or expertise.
Fun and Engaging
Team-building activities should be enjoyable to be effective. Puzzles provide a fun and engaging way for teams to work together, promoting a positive and relaxed atmosphere.
Who Will Emerge Victorious in The Crystal Maze Style Challenges?
Once all activities have been completed and (hopefully) many crystals collected, each team counts the number of crystals to discover the time they have accrued.
Finally, it’s time to enter the (drum roll) Crystal Challenge Dome!
Each team must now grab as many gold tickets as possible within your achieved time, and the team with the most gold tickets wins! However, that almost sounds too easy, doesn’t it?
Silver tickets have also been placed inside the dome to further jeopardise this final challenge. Points are deducted if any silver tickets are presented at the last count.
Once all teams have time in the dome, the top three will be awarded the gold, silver, and bronze medals.
