When to celebrate? What to celebrate? How to celebrate?

Some of us need an excuse to party… a solid reason to go to the boss and argue why you should spend an hour singing, dancing, quizzing or simply drinking! If you need extra help getting your boss on side, we’ve created a helpful guide to the key 2022 dates you probably should schedule an event in to celebrate.

We see companies participate in virtual events for a whole range of reasons, the obvious are of course Christmas Parties, End of Quarter Parties and Summer Parties. However, there are a lot of other celebrations that are just as popular such as Halloween, Bonfire Night, Valentines Day and Independence Day. Not all events have to be a whole company celebration either, we often see smaller groups (like departments or management teams) book activities for Leaving Parties, Baby Showers and Birthdays.

So to make things super simple for all the office event planners out there, we’ve created a detailed list of all the key dates to celebrate. Check it out:


  • New Year’s Day (1st January)
  • Blue Monday (17th January) – trust us, everyone will need cheering up!


  • Lunar New Year (1st February)
  • Winter Olympics begin (4th February)
  • Valentine’s Day (14th February)
  • Shrove Tuesday (16th February)


  • Lent begins (2nd March)
  • International Women’s Day (8th March)
  • Commonwealth Day (14th March)
  • St Patrick’s Day (17th March)
  • Red Nose Day (18th March)


  • Ramadan begins (2nd April)
  • Lent ends (14th April)
  • Easter Sunday (17th April)


  • Ramadan ends (1st May)
  • Eurovision Song Contest (date TBC)


  • Pride Month (throughout June) – pick your own date to celebrate or even have a range of activities going on throughout the month of June.
  • Queen’s Birthday Parade (2nd June)
  • Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations (3rd June)


  • Independence Day (4th July)
  • UEFA Women’s Euro Championship (6th July)
  • Commonwealth Games begin (28th July)


  • Yorkshire Day (1st August)
  • Summer Bank Holiday (31st August) – this is the last bank holiday in England and Wales before Christmas!


  • Labor Day USA (5th September)
  • 187th Oktoberfest begins (17th September)


  • Halloween (31st October)


  • Bonfire Night (5th November)
  • FIFA World Cup starts (21st November)
  • Thanksgiving USA (24th November)


  • Hanukkah begins (18th December)
  • Christmas Day (25th December) – maybe don’t celebrate this one on the day… we doubt anyone would turn up!
  • New Year’s Eve (31st December)


The above list is packed full of key British dates that we think companies, no matter their size, should celebrate. Of course the list may differ slightly between companies, especially large multi-nationals. We’ve included some of the more well-known International holidays in our list (Indepedence Day/Lunar New Year), however if a company has a significant number of employees from that location, they should definitely research some key dates/holidays and mark the occasion too!
